MANILA – The public may offer prayers and light candles for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in a chapel at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila.
The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception has opened the Christ the King Chapel for the Catholic faithful who wish to pay their final respects to the late former pontiff.
"The Christ the King Chapel inside the Manila Cathedral is now open for the faithful, who may want to offer prayers, light candles, and write in the book of condolences for our dearly departed Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI," it said in a social media post.
Manila archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula opened the chapel late Saturday, hours after the Vatican announced the passing of the former pope. He was 95.
The public viewing for the late former pontiff at the St. Peter's Basilica began on Monday.
The funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter's Square on Thursday to be followed by his burial at the crypt under Basilica. (PNA)
