On Friday night, January 20, a lone bettor from Iloilo City won the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot prize worth 45.5 million pesos.
The anonymous bettor became an instant millionaire after picking the winning combination of 24-39-31-19-42-13 drawn live in People's Television Network's PCSO Lottery Draw evening program.
Unfortunately, the bettor won't take the full 49.5-million peso prize pursuant to the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law.
"Prizes above P10,000 are subject to 20% tax pursuant to the TRAIN Law," PCSO explained.
Lotto winners must claim their prize within one year after the draw date, as doing the contrary will automatically forfeit the winnings.
The forfeited prize will be used to form PCSO's charity fund.
Last Thursday, January 19, a lone Manila bettor also won the Super Lotto 6/49 jackpot prize, amounting to over 79 million pesos.
