MANILA, Philippines – Blacklist International swept Deus Vult, 3-0, in their best-of-five lower bracket semifinal clash to stay alive in the M5 World Championship at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum here on Saturday morning, December 16.
The Codebreakers will face the winner between Filipino squad AP.Bren and Indonesian powerhouse ONIC Esports in the evening of the same day for a grand finals slot.
Deus Vult, meanwhile, bowed out of contention yet can still hold their heads high after becoming the second team outside Southeast Asia to enter the top four. The first to do so is BloodThirstyKing in M3, finishing third eventually.
Like Geek Fam ID, the Dark Knights are another Cinderella story in M5 as DeVu secured a playoff spot as Group D second placer.
Kiel "Oheb" Soriano's Bruno led the way for the Tier One-backed side with five kills and five assists, while Stephen "Sensui" Castillo's Fredrinn tallied two kills and seven assists in Blacklist's 13-8 Game One victory.
In Game Two, Oheb's Bruno showed that he was the boss anew, grabbing six kills and two assists. Sensui, who used the same hero as well, delivered with a flawless 3/0/4 KDA and secured all major objectives, including three turtles and two lords.
Carl Vincent "Carvi" Tino (hero) struggled after getting limited to a kill on top of two deaths, while Mathaios "Kidbomba" Chatzilakos's Terizla got two kills and three assists but fell four times.
Blacklist completed the sweep in just 13 minutes of Game Three behind the Most Valuable Player (MVP) performance by Sensui with Fredrinn. He nearly churned out a perfect KDA of a 2-1-7 line.
Renejay "Renejay" Barcase's Rafaela added a death-less output with a kill and 10 assists.
