Northern Mindanao police seize P1.9-M illegal drugs in 8 days

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police units in the Northern Mindanao region started the year 2024 with successive illegal drug operations, seizing P1.9 million worth of shabu in over a week.
Brig. Gen. Ricardo Layug Jr., director of Police Regional Office-10 (Northern Mindanao), said the anti-drug operations were in Bukidnon province and in this city.
"This successful operation is a testament to the relentless efforts of our police force in combating the scourge of illegal drugs in the region. Together, let us support each other for a drug-free community," Layug said in a statement.
The latest arrest on Tuesday involved two high-value male suspects, aged 24 and 20, who were arrested in Kalilangan, Bukidnon.
They yielded 74.29 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P505,000.
Previous operations in Bukidnon netted two males aged 24 and 21 with P374,000 worth of shabu; and a 34-year-old male with 79.4 grams of shabu worth P548,000.
Meanwhile, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office arrested a 49-year-old high-value male suspect in Barangay Macabalan on Monday with P102,000 worth of shabu.
The other suspects, also males, are aged 48 and 24 and arrested with P442,000 worth of the illegal substance. (PNA)
