The Philippine boxing team punched four gold medals in the recently concluded 2024 Boxam Elite Tournament in La Nucia, Spain over the weekend, February 3-4.
Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Nesthy Petecio led the way with a 3-2 split decision victory (29-28, 29-28, 29-28, 28-29, 29-28) over Chinese Taipei's Hsiao-Wen Hoang to rule the women's featherweight division (57 kilograms).
Aira Villegas also defeated Kazakhstan's Kyzaibay Nazym via a 3-2 split triumph (30-27, 28-29, 27-30, 29-28, 29-28) to capture the women's flyweight (50 kgs) tilt.
Another Filipina pug Hergie Bacyadan bagged the women's middleweight (75 kg) gold after beating Mexico's Citalli Ortiz via a 4-1 split.
Rogen Ladon, meanwhile, beat Hungary's Istvan Szaka with a walkover win.
The nationals joined the international competition as part of their buildup for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers.
