The National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 has assured that the Philippines will have a "steady supply" of COVID-19 vaccines in the following six months as the government secures 164 million doses through procurement, COVAX Facility, and bilateral donations.
"We are now awaiting the delivery of 136.1 million additional doses. On track in our vaccination program implementation, we are looking forward to having a better Christmas this year," said NTF Against Covid-19 chairperson Delfin Lorenzana.
Out of the 164 million doses, 28,485,130 doses have already been delivered to the country. This includes the 16 million doses that have been purchased by the national government, 10.2 million doses from the COVAX Facility, 2.2 million doses secured by private sectors and local government units, and 2.1 million doses given through bilateral donations.
Of the 164 million doses, 40 million are composed of government-procured Pfizer-BioNTech doses, 26 million Sinovac doses, 13 million Moderna doses, and 10 million Sputnik V doses.
Meanwhile, the COVAX Facility has committed 44 million doses, while private sectors and the LGU procure 17 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and an additional 7 million Moderna doses. Around two million have been promised through bilateral relations.
"Maganda ang nakikitang (we see good) figures of supply and delivery. Kaya masasabi nating (we can say) we are on track. Primary factor is that we have a steady supply," said NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.
"Second, the LGUs' capacity of administering 500,000 to 700,000 daily. Despite some delays on the deliveries, we were able to breach almost 400,000 [jabs] in a day," he added.
