The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber have dominated the Billboard Hot 100 as they secure the No. 1 spot for seven weeks with the single "STAY".
According to Genius the hit track "details LAROI's wish for his lover's forgiveness and Bieber's admiration for his significant other."
The 18-year-old singer also revealed that he had "STAY" for over a year before finally releasing it. LAORI added that he was out with friends Blake Slatkin, Omer Fedi and Charlie Puth when the song came to life.
"Charlie went over to the keyboard and just started playing stuff and what he played was the "Stay" [melody], and I was like, 'What's that?' and he's like, 'Oh, no, I'm just f*cking around.' And I'm like, 'No, no, no. Pull up a Pro Tools session, record this sh*t, this sh*t's fire," the singer told NME.
"It was probably the most organic way of making a song I've ever done – ever. It reminded me of the first time [I got to] get into a studio and stuff. We didn't plan for the song to happen. We never planned a studio session or anything like that, so it was crazy," he added.
The Australian rising-star continued to say that he sought Bieber for a collab as he "sounded perfect" for the track.
"He just went into the booth and just freestyled the shit off top; it was the craziest shit. I was like, 'Yo, this guy's out of his mind," said LAORI.
The two singers had previously collaborated for Bieber's song "Unstable".
According to Billboard, LAORI is expected to release his official debut album in 2022 whilst preparing for a world tour.
